While last year was about adapting to the extraordinary challenging circumstances, the world at large has now started evolving towards ‘Shaping the future’. This crisis has sparked an avalanche of innovative ideas and launched an entire generation of entrepreneurs transforming the way we live and work. There are several global transitions that have far reaching impact on the way we conduct our life. DISHA-2021 is all about finding out the nature and depth of transition, opportunities it creates for supply chain and strategies that can be adopted to transform individually and collectively.
Technology which is at the centre of this transition has enabled productivity and increased the pace of digitalisation, automation and mechanisation. The major shift is in energy transition from fossil fuels to green renewable and carbon free energy such as solar – wind – battery - hydrogen bundle. We see geopolitical shifts leading to newer country and trade alliances with potential shift of supply sources. Consumer tastes and shopping behaviour are changing from physical retail to online with willingness to pay premium for green goods which impacts the supply chain design. The world is also seeing disruption in conventional lines of businesses – healthcare, biopharma, banking etc.
Supply Chain is transiting from just in time to ‘Just in Case’ and brings alongside a complex risk management. It faces vulnerabilities on account of global and opaque sourcing chains, calling for increasing technology usage and transparent systems. This has triggered Supply Chain rebalancing - be it source changes, location changes, cost differentials driving localisation, managing portfolio rejigs, corporate restructuring (including backward integration), recognition and creation of new trade agreements, adopting massive technology usage – be it big data, cloud or blockchain etc. All these impact workforce composition, reskilling and rejig of operating models, driven by cheap and all-pervasive global connectivity. Supply Chain is the key enabler that can derive synergies from all the complex transition elements and steer the organisation in this new normal and India stands to derive immense value out of the transitions.
IIMM Mumbai presents Virtual Disha-2021, spread over three days, for an interactive experience with experts, attendees and partners for exchange of thought-provoking content and views to enhance leadership in Supply Chain.

"First of all I would like thank IIMM for arranging this wonderful training program. The efforts undertaken by each and every one in your team is commendable. The whole idea of using online platform and that too with such ease / multiple options / varied topics / experts can only be executed by Team IIMM, that too without any glitch. As soon as you enter the website, the way everything was virtually arranged gave a feel as if we were literally walking in the 3D environment. Easy access to Lobby, Auditorium Exhibitor Arena and more. The idea of having Parallel Tracks took this event to a whole new level. If I remember correctly, there were more than 800 Delegates who had enrolled. A very good overall introduction to DISHA by Chairman, IIMM, Mumbai Branch regarding the importance of Digital, Cost Management, Risk Management, Indigenisation etc. set the pace for this event. I personally loved the whole idea of having Opinion polls for topics like: Are Supply Chains likely to face increased risk in the Next Normal? In your opinion, is the Supply Chain fraternity ready for Next Normal? Having interactive activities in between sessions in a wonderful idea. Hope to see more such ideas in future. In short, my experience with Virtual Disha 2020 event was like being offered a 5-Star Buffet of knowledge and experience to choose from. I would say that IIMM was successful in taking their training to a whole new level during this challenging COVID times, though I personally prefer the live version of IIMM training, where we get to personally meet everyone and exchange information directly. Proud to be an ex-student of IIMM (PGDMM). "
"The event was very well organized and the effort put forth by the team was laudable. It was an example portrayed that come what may, IIMM Disha continues to perform and make the event a grand success. It is not an easy task to set up a virtual event with a bank of eminent speakers on the platform. The topics covered were really interesting and informative that spoke about the present market scenario. The virtual portal access was user friendly and functioned smoothly, right from desk enquiry to visiting the booths to attending the conference to exchanging contacts with the attendees, that it didn’t seem to appear as we were attending a virtual exhibition."
